Stars aground

Hi folks,

Sorry about this hiatus since the last post; hopefully will come around to more soon.

What a thorough thrashing for team India in the First Test! And to say, the media were still hoping that India could create history by scoring the 499 runs over 2 days. Kumble says the scoreboard may suggest otherwise, but they certainly were in the game for most parts. Well, the cupboard was barren and I reckon India were comprehensively outplayed in all departments of the game. While one didn't expect much from the bowling and fielding against a champion side like Australia, it was the famous batting line up which again stood exposed on foreign soil. Our stars were brought crashing to the ground. On livelier pitches like in Perth, one only hopes someone puts up a fight!

Talking about stars on the ground, I was moved by the celluloid version. The movie Taare Zameen Par was simply tear-jerking. While one has come to expect such wonders from Aamir Khan, for once he was upstaged by Darsheel Safary in the acting stakes. It's difficult to recall any recent movie having had such an impact on audiences as much as this one did. Kids and the old alike were seen reaching for the tips of their eyes to silently absorb the tears that welled up there. Kudos Aamir!

Wish you all a very happy and prosperous New Year 2008.
